Jesse
Helling originally hails from Dubuque, Iowa, where his parents
still reside. Currently,
Helling serves as Assistant Opinions Editor for The
Daily Iowan, and has, in the past, worked as an editorial
writer and news reporter for the DI, and at an
Iowa City radio station as a news reporter. This, along
with coursework at the UI, constitutes his experience in
the field of journalism.
Whether
or not Helling’s final career path will be paved in
this field remains to be seen. At the moment, he is actively
seeking employment with the U.S. Department of State as
a Foreign Service officer. Eventually he hopes to return
to the university world as a professor of international
relations.
